Sonrisas Siempre currently runs mission trips to Honduras, with trips to Ecuador in the offing.

The trip to Honduras is located in a small village called Comayagua outside of Tegucigalpa, the capital city. The clinic is housed on a Lions Club compound, where permanent dental equipment like dental chairs can be left year-round. In addition to the central clinic, Sonrisas also sends portable satellite "mini-clinics" to smaller villages that are out of range of our central clinic. Sonrisas has provided services to as many as 700 patients.

In our Honduras clinic, patients come from a variety of villages surrounding the Lions Club compound. Here we especially focus on children, including those in those in the orphanages surrounding the village. Knowledge of supply shipment, food, accommodations, and local contacts have been steadily improved over the years, so that now our Honduras trip is a smooth-running operation.

To expand its reach and impact, Sonrisas Siempre is also establishing a presence in Ecuador. Here we will provide the same types of services we provide in Honduras. If you are familiar with Ecuador and would like to share your knowledge, you can help to make our Ecuadorian service trips a success.

In organizing its mission trips, Sonrisas Siempre administrators are careful to avoid areas of conflict or unrest. As a result of the politically unstable situation in Honduras, Sonrisas Siempre is following the US Department of State's recommendation to postpone all non-essential travel to that country. Sonrisas Siempre mission trips are expected to resume in that country once the political situation has stabilized.
